This upscale hotel is set on the banks of the River Wear, and offers sensational views of England's famous Durham Castle and Cathedral. This establishment, part of which dates back to the 17th century, offers modern amenities while preserving historic charm and exquisite features such as antiques and original prints. A full refurbishment of all the bedrooms was completed in March 2008 and guests have the choice of 150 rooms including 144 doubles, 2 singles, 4 junior suites and 1 disability-friendly room. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a lobby area with a 24-hour reception and 24-hour check-in/check-out service, a hotel safe, a lift, a cafe, a restaurant and Internet access. Guests may also take advantage of the room and laundry services. Known for its event facilities and catering services, the hotel offers a unique meeting space for conferences or intimate gatherings and certified event planners to make any event memorable.
